Percy the Crested Pigeon: A Lesson in Friendship from the Reflective Mirror
Once upon a time in the heart of a bustling city, there lived a Crested Pigeon named Percy. Percy had the most magnificent crest atop his head, which he took great pride in. One sunny morning, as he strutted through the park, he noticed a group of pigeons gathered around a shiny object on the ground. Curiosity piqued, Percy waddled over to see what all the fuss was about.
To his surprise, it was a mirror! The other pigeons were flapping their wings and cooing enthusiastically, admiring their reflections.
Percy, however, was concerned. "Why are you all so fascinated with yourselves?" he asked, puffing out his chest.
One pigeon replied, "Look at how fabulous we are!" Another added, "I didn't know my feathers looked so good!"
Percy, feeling left out, decided he needed to outshine them all. So he fluffed out his crest to look bigger and more majestic. He spun in front of the mirror and called out, "Behold the magnificence of Percy!"
But in his excitement, he didn’t notice a nearby cat, who figured it was the perfect opportunity for a game. With a swift pounce, the cat approached Percy, who was still busy admiring his reflection. The other pigeons fluttered away in a panic, but Percy stood there, frozen in awe of his own grandeur.
The cat, feeling a bit bemused, watched Percy with a cocked head. Just when it seemed like Percy was in trouble, he finally turned around and saw the cat staring at him. Realizing the predicament, he quickly recovered, puffed out his crest even more, and belligerently declared, "You have no idea who you’re messing with! I’m the most fabulous pigeon in the park!"
The cat just blinked and decided that whoever this bewildered pigeon was, it was not worth the trouble. It turned and sauntered away, leaving Percy to gloat about his narrow escape.
The other pigeons returned, and Percy learned an important lesson that day. Rather than focusing on looking good, he realized that it was far more fun to be himself and enjoy the company of his friends instead of trying to stand out. From that day forward, Percy was known not only for his spectacular crest but also for his delightful and adventurous personality. The simple joy of camaraderie made him shine even brighter than any mirror ever could!
